5 things you'll actually love to do when bored

If you’re looking for creative things to do when you’re bored at home, this list is for you

HERE’S THE THING

These suggestions I’m giving you are fun, creative, and honestly… you don’t even have to leave your room for some of these. So let’s get into it:

1) 🛍️ Online Shopping (But Make It a Mission)

Ok, ok, I know you’re probably thinking,
“Seriously? You think I haven’t done that?”

But I’m not talking about just aimlessly browsing random stores.
Here’s the twist: go hunt for specific pieces you’ve seen online — like that viral pair of sunglasses or those Pinterest-perfect socks.

Even if you can’t find the exact ones, try building a dream outfit and saving it to a Pinterest board.
It’s like curating your own aesthetic shop — and yes, it’s way more fun than just scrolling.

2) 💭 Making Up Fake Scenarios

This one? Honestly top tier. I do this all the time.

You create your own little world — complete with wild adventures, dramatic plot twists, or maybe even that dream life where you live in Paris with a cat and a rooftop view.

(Yikes. Hope that didn’t depress you 😅)

But seriously, fake scenarios help you escape the real-life mess, give you a sense of control, and major bonus — it stops you from spiraling.

Call it therapy. Call it coping. I call it ✨elite imagination ✨.

3) 📓 Journaling (But Not the Cringe Kind)

Ok, confession time:
When I first heard the word “journaling,” I was like, ain’t no way I’m writing down my feelings when my brain stores things 10x faster than my hand can move.

(Also — if it’s not aesthetic, I won’t read it, and that makes it 10x harder.)

But here's the plot twist: journaling doesn’t have to be deep brain dumps. It can just be a record of your day.

  • What was your mood?

  • What did you wear?

  • What was the weather like?

  • Did something hilarious or awkward happen?

Even if you never left your house — writing it all down clears up mental space. It’s kinda like a mind detox.

Also, you'd be surprised how many unused notebooks are hiding in your house.
And if not?here's a link to a journal I designed  its— cute, functional, and made for overthinkers like us.

4) 🎨 DIY Everything You See (Literally Anything)

Got craft supplies lying around?
Now’s the time to turn that mess into magic.

Make wall art. Cut up an old T-shirt. Turn cereal boxes into desk organizers. Channel your inner TroomTroom (if you know, you know).

Also — one of my fave things to do is take an idea I saw online and change the parts I don’t like. Add your own twist to it.

And don’t say “I suck at art.” gurl, there’s a tutorial for everything now.
You just need the willpower to start.

5) ✨ Do That One Thing You Always Say You’ll Do

Ok, this one’s vague but stay with me.

You know that idea you shoved into the back of your brain?
The one you’ve been “saving” for when you have time?

Yeah. Now’s the time.

And no — don’t say “But I still don’t have enough time.” That’s what baby steps are for.
Start by writing a list of what you’ll need. Gather supplies. Make a rough plan. Even that will take up time and make you feel like you’re doing something.

Then next time you’re free, you’ll be one step ahead.

So as your internet bestie, I say:
Start that YouTube channel. Post the pic you’ve been scared to post. Try that weird recipe.

Just… do the thing.

✏️ Final Thoughts?

Boredom sucks — but it’s also a sneaky little window for creativity, dreaming, and doing the stuff you usually “don’t have time for.”

If any of these ideas helped, let me know in the comments or share your fave thing to do when you’re bored. 💬
